About the project
Safe Walk & Bike Green Bay is a joint effort of the Green Bay Area Public School District and the City of Green Bay. The purpose of the plan, which should be completed by July of 2019, is to identify ways to empower adults and children of all ability levels throughout the Green Bay area to make walking and biking a part of their daily routines in getting to schools and other community destinations in an equitable way.
Why we need it
In order to keep up with the rest of the state and the nation as a multi-modal community, more pedestrian and bicycle friendly infrastructure must be created to connect our neighborhoods. This type of connectivity is much more attractive to young families and our aging community members. Millions of dollars in grant money is available yearly to cities and towns looking to implement these projects, but a bicycle and pedestrian plan is required.
The plan
The City Council will vote on the plan June 18th, 6pm at City Hall (100 N. Jefferson St.), in council chambers. Come on out to support an active, vibrant, multi-modal city! The full plan can be viewed here… https://www.gbaps.org/our_district/departments/transportation/safe_routes_project
